Functional Capacity Evaluation

A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive series of performance-based tests that help determine an individual's functional abilities and limitations, in the context of safe, productive work tasks, in order to determine whether an individual has the physical abilities required to meet the physical demands of a job. This process helps determine the necessity for work restrictions (if any) and options for return-to-work.

An FCE is typically a 2 to 4 hour test. Activities generally tested during the FCE include, but is not limited to, bending, squatting, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking and stair climbing

Results of the FCE include:
• Rate of ability to return to a specific job
• Return to work status
• Patient's level of functionality

Please call the clinic directly with any questions regarding therapy services. The clinic can be reached during normal business hours at 847-634-2317.
